Carving Pumpkins

We had a great time carving pumpkins with the kids! First we had to empty the guts which always makes me laugh. Jett is so anti-getting-his-hands-messy that he has a hard time touching the pumpkin guts. Tucker dove right in and Dallas was not very interested. We saved a lot of pumpkin seeds for roasting and once the pumpkins were cleaned out, Jett and Tucker drew their faces on and Daddy and I helped cut them out. They lasted about a week on the doorstep looking all cute, but sadly they are now resting in the trash...oh, well...it was fun while it lasted!

Jacobisms from Grandma Day haha!

So, yesterday we got this email from Grandma MacKay. We love Grandma Day--thank you sooo much Dawn! We were laughing so hard, I had to post it.

I hope Lisa and Jason are taking good notes of the hilarious things that Jacob says. He CRACKS ME UP! Yesterday for Grandma Day I started writing down a few random quotes:

Me: What does Braden like to do?
Jacob: He just walks every day. He keeps walking. It's amazing.

Me: What does Dad like to do?
Jacob: He comes home after work, he eats, he goes to scouts and fixes things.

Me: I need to buy grandpa a present. What should I get him?
Jacob: Maybe a shooter gun, or a shooter stars (translation: shooter stars are fireworks).

My mom told me that Heavenly Father saves us for Jesus.

When you throw your food on the ground, mommy gets mad.

Someday I was crying at the airport because the smoke was coming out.

My mom said I could have a piece of gum when I settle down.

(while sitting on the toilet) Mom says you shouldn't dip your bum in the water or it will itch.

Pumpkins and Stitches

Up next in the great catch-up happened two weeks ago today. The boys and I met Nana and Papa at the Plumper Pumpkin patch! It was so much fun! The kids loved the big slides, the rubber ducky races, the animals, the hay mazes, the pumpkin sling shot and canon, the playground, and of course picking out the perfect pumpkins! Thank you Nana and Papa for such a fun time at the pumpkin patch!!

After the pumpkin patch we went home to drop off our pumpkins and get daddy, then we went to Nana and Papa's for some yummy homemade minestrone soup and biscuits. Well, just a few minutes of hanging out before dinner, we hear Dallas screaming. I go from the kitchen to the hall and see Jayson carrying Dallas and blood everywhere! He had fallen off of a chair in the family room head-first onto we think the floor vent (maybe a toy?) and sliced his head open! Poor kid - we took him to an urgent care center who then told us to go to the ER. So we went, and after hours of waiting, he got six stitches in his lil noggin!

On the way to the ER

Waiting in the ER after they put some numbing medicine on.

Waiting in the room for the doc to come stitch him up.

We got there around 6:30 and he didn't get stitches til about 8:45. He was so good waiting around and stayed happy. He only fussed a bit when they gave him a shot of more numbing stuff, then they wrapped him up burrito-style and started sewing. Halfway through, Dallas fell asleep! He was pretty tired!
He's been doing great and the stitches have now dissolved and his scar is healing up pretty good! Of course I missed a picture of just the stitches...but here he is today!

Jacobisms

Jacob is afraid of pretty much anything that makes a loud noise. This includes things like loud flushing toilets, blenders, blow dryers, and of course the VACUUM. Just now I was telling him that after his snack, he needed to go into his room and play with Bray because I am going to vacuum. His response, "AND shut the door! Or it will vroom up all my toys and be stuck forever!" I love the way my 3 year old thinks! :)

Next.....A long post with lots of pictures. You've been warned! ;)

Up next in the camera is the beginning of October -- we went camping with Nana and Papa! It was such a fun trip! Nana and Papa had yet to try out their new toy hauler trailer so we headed out on Friday after work and went to the Brown's Camp area and found a great camping spot near Diamond Mill. It was big enough for both trailers and had lots of tall trees around and tons of space for the boys to run around and explore. It turned out to be great weather and we had a lot of fun! View from the trailers out to the forest

View from the forest to the trailers

Nana and here little buddy =)

Saturday was Gorgeous! and we saw that there was a trail to the river so we went and checked it out. It was a fun hike down to the river and we stayed to throw a few rocks.
After a LOT of rocks found a new home in the river, we hit the trail again and headed to a bridge nearby that led into a little forestry center museum. It was so great and had cute little things for kids to do and interact with to learn about the forest and the area around where we were. Once back at camp we had some lunch and then it was naptime while the guys hit the trails on their motorcycles.

Once the kids were up we had a lot of fun exploring the forest and of course making things out of nature with Nana! They gathered all sorts of materials and built a couple of garages and a road for their trucks! We all got into it and had a great time! The kids also enjoyed getting rides from Papa in the big wagon! After a yummy dinner, Jay and I went for a motorcycle ride while the kids had smores with Nana and Papa, then the kiddies went to bed while we played tripoly, ate snacks and watched a movie.

The next morning we hung out for a while then packed up to go home. The kids kept busy hunting for air soft pellets and riding in the wagon.

Thank you Nana and Papa for such a great trip! We sure had a blast and look forward to lots more camping trips with you guys! Love you!! =)

Jacobisms

Yesterday while we were at the park playing with Ruby, Jacob and I had walked a little distance from Braden, who was still in the stroller. We (Jacob mostly of course!) were talking with a woman that had also brought her dog to the park, when Braden started to protest a little bit. Jacob turned to the lady and said, "I got to go make Bray happy. I'll be right back!" And off he trotted to cheer up his brother! He's such a good little helper! The lady was grinning from ear to ear-- "How did you get such good boys?" "Just lucky, I guess!" I beamed.:)

A few days ago, it was the end of the day, and Jacob wraps his little arms around me, gives me a kiss on the cheek and says, "Mommy, your my sweet girl!" Talk about make me melt! What a sweetheart. When he does good things I often telling him, "Your my sweet man."-- I guess what goes around comes around, in the best ways too!

Jacob LOVES his cousins Mylie and Brynlee--WE WILL MISS YOU IN UTAH!! About a month ago they came over to go swimming with us. We were waiting by the pool when Jacob saw Sharie and John walk through the door and said, "Where's my Mylie girl!"- looking for Mylie to follow. And then said, "There's my girl!" to both Mylie and Brynlee as they each walked through the gate. cuteness!

Jason wrote this comment: A couple of days ago, Jacob layed down next to me, put his arm around my neck, and said, "Your my best friend Daddy."

Catching up on all the fun.

I have lots to blog about, I'm just lazy and don't get to it...SO here's what's been going on lately (or just what's still in my camera). However, I think I'll do just one event today and more tomorrow. I know this is repeat because Mandy and Drew already posted their version, but this is from our point of view! =)

Last month we went camping with the Oakes family and had a blast! We met at a camp ground in the Blues and enjoyed great weather, great food and great company! The kids had a ton of fun running around together and getting dirty.

Mandy and Brycen looking cute

Here's our campsite from one angle. We got a great big one with some pavement and lots of room to play. We parked both trailers in it and Mandy and Drew had all the gear to make it comfy and fun! This was also the first time we used our trailer! It was comfy and warm and worked our great!

The boys LOVE riding their bikes while camping! They were always out there racing around.

While the guys were napping, Mandy and I decided to take the kids on a walk which ended up a fun hike! These two kiddos were so cute together and it was fun seeing them interact. So handsome!

We lined all the kids up on this log and gave them a bouncy ride. Giddy-up!

These three were inseparable. They loved going to "log park" and "pinecone palace" to play and gather pinecones and find caterpillars and butterflies and imagine away. They were so fun!

Mandy and Drew brought these tiny plastic chairs and Dallas LOVED them. He kept himself busy carrying them around everywhere and playing with them for SO long everyday. It was great! (here he's playing at "log park") I'm thinking I need a couple for our house to keep him occupied... =)

There's a great trail that we took to a little river and the kids loved throwing rocks into it. Drew found a little snake and everyone held it, but Brycen was all over it! He loved it and was so fascinated. It was cute to watch him just haul it around! Drew was very good at finding all the critters.

Us!

We planned to go swimming at a hot springs pool nearby, but it was closed! We had a picnic by the river instead and then found a swimming hole to play in. It was COLD water but lots of fun!

Mandy and Drew!
Awww.

Our rig.

Thanks Oakes family for such a fun trip! We'll definitely have to go again next year! Love you guys! =)
