It's Summer!

It is officially summer vacation!  Yesterday was the last day of school, so today I wanted to get out with the kids and have some fun.  So after Carter's nap, we loaded up and drove downtown to the Boise Art Museum.  Admission is free on the 1st Thursday of every month so I thought it was a good opportunity to try something new.  

The museum does not allow photos inside - BUT - at the end of our tour we found the kids artistic/discovery room!  There were all kinds of games and art projects... it was awesome!  Carter was especially thankful for this shift from "careful, don't touch", to "go play!"  

After some playtime - we moved on to the craft room.  The theme for today was weather, so the kids gathered some supplies and made "cloud" sculptures.  I use that term loosely because it was just a paper cup and some fiberfil glued together.  But the kids loved it - so awesome!

After the museum we walked to the park for some time outside in the glorious sunshine!  The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast swinging and climbing and chasing the ducks.  Poor Carter had some trouble climbing the ladder, so Ava gave him some help.  Love that girl! 

After the park we moved across the field to feed the geese.  It started out fairly fun an exciting, but then it got a little scary!  These geese are aggressive!  Poor Carter wanted to eat his own bread and the goose wanted a bite of it too.  Carter was scared to death.  Even Ava was a little freaked out.

Having had enough of the crazy geese, the kids moved on to gathering feathers.  

The kids were only allowed to keep 1 feather.  Brycen found this especially difficult.  He laid them all out so that he could choose the best one!

On the other side of the park is the Gene Harris Band Shell.  It's a really old outdoor stage.  The kids thought it was awesome and quickly formed a dance and a play and other theatrical performances.  The littles were perfectly happy playing in the large puddle on the side of the stage.  

It was such a fun afternoon together.  No phone - no computer - no deadlines... wonderful!
