A Pinterest-Worthy Project
Last week I took on a daunting project. I bought an ugly dining room table and chairs and dared to refinish them! I have a friend who is a DIY queen and she guided me through the stripping of the stain, the sanding, the painting, the staining and the applying of polyurethane. It was no easy task but I managed to do almost all of it all by myself in about 10 days!
The "Before." As you can see, the green fabric and the blonde stain is quite icky. But I loved the design on the chairs and they are solid wood, very sturdy.
The staining of the table and priming of the chairs.
The painting, antiquing and final coat of polyurethane.
The finished product! I even reupholstered the cushions myself!

I Know the Presidents!
So whenever I pick up Jacob from preschool, I always ask what he learned, new Spanish words, etc. About a week ago this was his response:
Mom: So what did you learn in school today?
Jacob: I know the presidents! There's Washington, and Lincoln-ton. . .
Mom: Lincoln?
Jacob: Ya, Lincoln. And O-ba-ma (he pronounced this one very clearly-- I wonder if other kids in his class had trouble saying this name?)
Mom: Good job Jacob!
Jacob: Oh! And I know one more-- President Monson!
Hahahahaha! Love it! I proceeded to explain that the President of the Church and the Presidents of our country were two different things, but he was right!

10 years!!
Jayson and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary yesterday! We spoiled each other by farming out the boys and getting a fancy hotel downtown. We splurged on a really nice dinner at The Melting Pot - a fondue restaurant - such a fun experience and sooo yummy! The hotel was very nice and we loved being able to relax...for the most part. We had miss Charlotte with us who got sick on Wednesday. She was a trooper and let us have a great evening, but then kept us awake aaalllll night. Oh well. After we checked out, we tried another new restaurant for lunch called TILT. It was SO good - the best hamburgers and fries ever! Then we got the boys and went home for a nap. It was so fun to celebrate with my sweetheart! Jayson and I have been so blessed to enjoy these last ten years together and have loved building our family and our lives. I love my super hot man and I'm so grateful to have him forever! We definitely had a very Happy Anniversary!

Lucky Punch
This week has been so beautiful - the weather has been warm and sunny and gorgeous! So I was eager to get my kids outside and into this fresh air ASAP. Today, Ava and Brycen went outside after school to play with a neighbor boy across the street. He has a reputation for being a little rough (he's 8) and not always following the rules. But he is still very nice and Ava usually keeps him in line. :)
Such a sad face - what a heart breaker! |
I'm not really sure what game they were playing today, but as soon as I tried to sit down and read (a rare thing these days) I heard Brycen crying and Ava reassuring him as they walked back through the front door. Our neighbor friend had accidentally popped Brycen in the nose. He was taking it like a champ - only a few tears - and I had to stop everything for a quick picture. Then I cleaned him up and he ran back outside to play again. Such a trooper!
