1st day of Kindergarten!

Today was Ava's first day of Kindergarten at River Valley Elementary! She was so excited! We laid out her clothes last night and got her backpack all ready. Then before bed, Drew gave her a father's blessing. It was very sweet, and just assured her that she could make new friends and be brave in a new place. Then, Brycen wanted a blessing, so Drew gave him one too. He blessed Brycen to be brave at home without Ava there to play with him. What good kids! I have to say, I really wasn't too hard to let her go - She is so smart and full of confidence. I just knew she would be okay, and she was!

He Did it!

Drew had his final exams last week for his EMT class, which included the written final and a skills (hands on assessment) test. Of course, he passed with flying colors and the instructors made lots of comments like, "Wow, that was really great! " and on and on! They were so impressed with how smooth his presentation was of the information and how he acted so professional, (as if with a real patient), with the plastic dummy on the floor.

Then... He had the state skills exam on Friday! Let me lay it out for you.

A huge group of students, from a few different schools arrive at 7:15 am to ATTEMPT to pass the State skills test. There are 6 stations ranging form trauma, to heart attacks, stab wounds, respiratory arrest, and so on. At each station the student must assess the patient and take the appropriate steps to "HELP" them. If they miss even one step, as outlined in their training, it is called a "Critical Fail". This of course means they failed this station. The catch however, is that the student is NOT told whether he/she failed or not until all 6 stations have been completed. At the end of the day they are given one final chance to pass any missed stations, but are not told what part they missed. So you can imagine how nerve racking this all is.

In true Drew Style, he walked in to the testing facility, and decided to have fun with it. Don't get me wrong, he was nervous too, but he was also as prepared as he could be! Throughout the day, he wooped and hollered when it was his turn or a friend's turn. This made everyone laugh an relax a little!

Well, needless to say, Drew passed all six stations on the first try! HOORAY!!!!!! (This was not the case for about half of his class - so I like to make a big deal out of it!) When he got home after his test, the kids and I had decorated the dining room and we all had root beer floats to celebrate. I am so proud of Drew! He has worked so hard. Now we just have the State Written exam to pass and he is DONE!

Beach Day

We sure had a great time at the beach with our friends, the Gardners!! We went down near Cannon Beach and enjoyed a beautiful day in the sand. We got set up and explored and played, had a picnic lunch, then just let the kids have a blast digging holes, climbing rocks, playing in the surf and hanging out. Thank you Kristin, Bella and Harry for such a great day!

A windy, but gorgeous day!
Dallas LOVED playing with this truck in the water. That grin was pasted there the whole time! So cute.

Bella was the bravest playing in the water! She had a great time jumping the waves.
Here's Harry with 'Dumper'.

Kristin with a chilly Harry taking a break.

Dallas also LOVED climbing around on the rocks. He is fearless and a really good climber! He loved it.

Buddies.
Everyone climbing around.
Bella and Jett are such good friends! They climbed up to this spot and declared themselves King and Queen.

After the beach we all got ice cream and taffy, then headed home.
We loved going to the beach and spending the day with great friends!

Guess Who?

So FYI - I just got called to be the next PRIMARY PRESIDENT! Ahhhh!

Lions and Tiger and bears...YES BEARS...Oh My!

So we went camping last weekend with some friends from our ward and had a blast! This campground had everything we wanted. It was remote and forested and beautiful! It had a hot spring, a small playground for the kids, the river was nearby for rafting and swimming and cliff jumping, and there were lots of trails for the motorcycles. Oh.. and did I mention the BEAR!!!

That's right. Two nights in a row, we had an adult black bear visit our camp. The first night he came twice and got into our cooler. He made off with some cookies, muffins, lunch meat, cheese and a tomato. Drew and the kids and I were a safe distance away in our trailer, but we had a perfect view 20 yards away of the slobbery beast, who really just looked like a goofy fur ball with a grin on his face. It was intense.

Despite the bear, we all had a wonderful time and look forward to our next camping trip!

THE TWINS ARE HERE!

They arrived a bit early, and we're VERY excited for you to meet them!

Here we are in the labor/delivery room before going in for my C-section.

July 28, 2011.

Brooklynn Marie was born first, at 3:20 p.m. A little bundle at just 5 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 inches long. Mommy has just a quick moment to say hello!

Ethan Stuart was born at 3:22 p.m. A bit smaller at 5 lbs. 9 oz. and 18-1/2 inches long. He started howling as soon as his head poked out!
Brooklynn was taken to the NICU to get her breathing and blood sugar regulated.

She did NOT like to be taken away from Mommy and Daddy!

Ethan soon joined her to be monitored for a bit.
Both babies joined Mommy and Daddy about 6 hours later. They were MUCH happier then...

(Brooklynn above ... Ethan below)

Daddy has a quiet moment with the twins before company comes to visit.

All my boys together...

Jacob kept saying, "They're SO cute!"

Braden just wanted to poke their eyes.

We are so excited to be together again!

Just one big, happy family!

Big brother Braden gets a turn holding a baby.

The three brothers put their heads together. Oh, boy .... what will they come up with a few years from now???

Everyone came home on Sunday. Thank Goodness Nana came to help out!

"Shhhhh ... we're telling each other some secrets!" ;D

And now for some really precious photos:

Ethan snuggling with Mommy...

... and Brooklynn, just chillin' out.

This is the best way to tell them apart.

Ethan is very fair, and Brooklynn is dark-haired.

Everyone is doing really well. Mommy and Daddy are a bit sleep-deprived, but VERY happy!

We feel very blessed to have healthy, sweet babies. They are beautiful!
